What is an Actual Dental Implant?
Welcome to our Implants series! One of the questions that we frequently receive from our patients is, what is an actual implant? This is an excellent question that serves as a base for what we will be discussing throughout our implant series. The implant treatment modality incorporates three parts. The first one is the implant body that goes inside your jaw that replicates a root of your tooth that used to be there but is now replicated by the implant. The second part of the implant would be an abutment. It’s a metal piece that goes inside the implant and gets fixed with the screw, like cold welding. The third part would be the actual crown that gets designed at the lab gets cemented permanently in the mouth.
